King Saha At Shs 5,000

After a triumphant weekend of concerts in Lugogo, Luweero, and Masaka, King Saha has announced plans for a budget-friendly concert.

The singer revealed that many fans couldn’t afford the 30,000 shilling ticket for his Lugogo show. To cater to his low-income supporters, he’s considering a Shs 5,000 event.

Saha is eyeing venues like Kololo or Namboole Stadium, or even reverting to the classic street jam style. This move aims to make his music accessible to those who love his work but are constrained by finances.

However, the journey hasn’t been without its bumps. Saha expressed disappointment towards the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), led by Eddy Kenzo, for not supporting his recent Lugogo concert. Despite the federation’s advocacy for musicians, their absence was notable when Saha’s event faced police scrutiny. His statements reflect his frustration, accusing the UNMF of lacking genuine support for the industry’s growth. Additionally he expressed gratitude to NUP President Bobi Wine for his support.

This isn’t the first time Saha has criticized the federation. Previously, he has openly questioned their commitment to musicians’ welfare, especially during his bouts with health issues and event cancellations.

Saha’s planned low-cost concert is a direct response to the economic situation of his fanbase. It reflects a broader trend among Ugandan artists to make events more inclusive. The choice of venue will be crucial, as Kololo and Namboole offer large capacities that could accommodate the expected crowd.

Despite these tensions, Saha’s popularity remains undiminished, with fans eagerly awaiting his next move. His recent performances have been well-received, showcasing his vocal prowess and audience connection. This initiative might set a precedent for how artists can adapt to ensure their music reaches everyone, regardless of financial barriers.
