Kampala showed up and showed out on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, as the Roast and Rhyme Reggae Ragga Nyam Nyam Edition took over Lugogo Hockey Grounds with a sold-out crowd, electric performances, and the unmistakable vibe that has made it Uganda’s most loved lifestyle festival.

After months of anticipation and a reschedule from its original February date, the festival didn’t just meet expectations—it exceeded them. From the food to the music, the atmosphere was a perfect blend of urban energy and signature Roast and Rhyme soul.

From the moment the gates opened, fans knew they were in for something special. The stage lit up with stellar performances by Winnie Nwagi, Karole Kasita, Fyno UG, and Young Mulo, all of whom brought the crowd to life with their biggest hits and crowd favourites. The audience danced, sang along, and soaked up the city’s vibrant energy under clear Kampala skies.

As always, Roast and Rhyme delivered more than music. From sizzling grills offering Uganda’s best roast meats to craft cocktails and chilled drinks, the event was a feast for all senses. Vendors and small businesses were given a platform to shine, staying true to Swangz Avenue’s commitment to supporting the local creative economy.

Roast and Rhyme was worth the wait
Originally scheduled for February at Jahazi Pier, the event was postponed due to concerns about the venue and safety. But the wait was well worth it. Lugogo Hockey Grounds provided the perfect backdrop for a refreshed experience that blended city charm with signature Roast and Rhyme vibes.

Ticketholders from the February edition were welcomed with open arms — and a surprise bonus. Each valid ticket granted entry for two, a thoughtful gesture that fans widely appreciated.
If this edition is any sign, Roast and Rhyme is evolving — and only getting better. With 23 editions under its belt, it continues to grow as Uganda’s leading fusion of music, food, and lifestyle.
